TADOTSU: A Town Where the History and Culture of the Seto Inland Sea Reside
Tadotsu, Kagawa Prefecture, is a town where the mild climate of the Seto Inland Sea and the gentle way of rural life remains.
You can experience history and culture breathing here, allowing you to feel the “heart of Japan” during your stay.
Here, just a short trip away,
there are many places where you can encounter spiritual culture and tradition.
Shorinji Kempo Headquarters

Tadotsu is the birthplace of Shorinji Kempo.
The Shorinji Kempo Headquarters is located about a 10-minute walk from this share house.
You can observe or experience sessions at the headquarters. Shorinji Kempo, while a martial art, is based on the philosophy of “not to defeat others, but to refine oneself.”
Its teachings, emphasizing the harmony of mind and body, offer a glimpse into the profound depth of Japanese culture.
Konpira-san

Konpira-san, beloved as the deity of the sea and faith
Konpira-san, long known as a shrine for praying for maritime safety and bountiful catches, is just three stops away from Tadotsu to Kotohira on the Dosan Line. From the grounds spread out at the top of the long stone steps, the Seto Inland Sea unfolds before you.
Even as you climb the stairs, you feel the “pilgrimage to calm the mind” has already begun. The air within the quiet grounds is so clear it makes you forget your daily life.
Doryuji Temple, the 77th temple out of the 88 temples of Shikoku

A quiet temple where you can experience pilgrimage culture.
One of the eighty-eight sacred sites associated with Kobo Daishi.
Within the grounds, ancient trees and Buddhist statues stand, allowing you to gently feel a part of the Shikoku pilgrimage.
Even if you don’t complete the entire pilgrimage, simply visiting this place lets you feel the “time in which prayers have continued.”

Atomsphere of the town
Tadotsu, which flourished as a Kitamaebune shipping route
During the Edo period, the town of Tadotsu prospered as a Kitamaebune shipping route. Old houses and storehouses reminiscent of that era’s prosperity still remain. Here, time flows just a little slower.
